How can
The Work Programme help your business?
The Work Programme can help employers by providing the right candidates for vacancies in your organisation. Serco is one of two providers appointed by Job Centre Plus to deliver the Work Programme across South Yorkshire. Find out more about how they can help with recruitment to meet your needs.
The Work Programme is an integral part of the Government’s
reforms to the welfare system
providing a package of support for people out-of-work,
regardless of the benefits they claim. It replaced all existing back-to-work
schemes including the Flexible New Deal (FND). It provides tailored support for
thousands of long term benefit claimants.
The contracts are
funded on a payment by results basis and Contractors are ultimately paid from
the money saved by supporting people off benefits and into work. The service
can be adapted to best meet the needs of people seeking work and prepare them
for employer vacancies.
About Serco
Serco was appointed by the Department for Work and Pensions
(DWP) as one of the providers to deliver the Work Programme in South Yorkshire
and the West Midlands. Through these contracts, Serco’s network of public, private and
voluntary sector providers support local jobseekers into sustainable employment.
Their flexible approach to meeting the needs of people seeking work has
resulted in Serco’s involvement in the creation of the Institute of Customer
Management to promote and professionalise contact
centres, attract new entrants and support their Career Paths. The ICM uses
Government funds where applicable.
Serco contract manages and quality assures their work while
also supporting the network with financial management, technology
infrastructure, implementation, logistics expertise and capacity building
support. We also ensure the network supports individual and groups of employers
to provide a stream of good candidates for employment opportunities.

If that sounds like you, it’s time to share your success – and put yourself forward to win a cash injection for your business with the Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2011.
What’s it all about? Nurturing and helping to develop young talent is the long-term aim of the awards, which are back for the sixth year running. Already these forward-thinking awards have rewarded, celebrated and promoted some amazing businesses run by young people in the borough. From ice sculpture, fashion, dance or engineering to IT solutions and graphic design, the awards have highlighted the hidden skill base of some smart young individuals. And awards are excellent accolades for businesses – providing independent recognition and a boost to confidence and morale.
What’s in it for me? Winners and runners up in each category will each receive a cash prize and publicity for their business. Category winners will be invited to attend the Rotherham Chamber of Commerce Awards in October when they will be presented with their certificates – and the overall winner will be awarded the title Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
How do I enter? It couldn’t be simpler. Just decide which of the four categories you’d like to enter and complete the attached form. You can enter more than one award. The top accolade of Rotherham Young Entrepreneur of the Year will be selected by judges from all successful entrants. (All entry details will be treated in the strictest confidence) |

Manvers Waterfront Boat Club would like to install an automated external defibrillator (A.E.D) in the clubhouse. To do this, they need to raise £600. The other half of the cost along with training, would be provided by a charity called HEARTBEAT UK who's aim is to increase the number of community based AEDs in the UK.
If you can donate money or have fund raising ideas, please contact the club office.

Wath Festival has been running successfully for 39 years and has expanded tremendously in recent years so that now it is the largest music festival of its type in South Yorkshire. For your opportunity to sponsor the event, read on…
Last year was our best Festival ever– we were also named as runner up best UK Folk festival 2010 beating many other larger festivals. The event centres on the Bank holiday weekend and consists of three elements 1) Music festival 2) Community Festival 3) Youth promotion.
The festival’s aims are to: - Support and involve the community of the Dearne Valley. - Assist in the economic regeneration of the Dearne Valley. - Raise the profile of the local area on a national level by bringing some of the biggest names in the national and international music industry to the festival. - Nurture and support the creative talents of local people especially youngsters.
The annual cost of our Festival is close to £40,000, some of this comes from ticket sales and our own events but like all festivals we also rely on sponsorship and to that end we would ask you to consider sponsoring Wath Festival – as we are a charity any sponsorship is tax-deductable. Total audiences last year were 7500 people, mostly from South Yorkshire, but coming from as far north as the Orkney Islands and as far south as Isle of Wight. We believe we can work with you for mutual benefit. We can offer a range of packages depending on the level of sponsorship, including mention in press releases and on our website; for a significant sponsorship, particular concerts or events can be branded in your company name; we can arrange to distribute leaflets during the Festival and provide a stall over the weekend of the festival. We can also help you to raise your community profile in a number of ways. Although we are happy to agree a one year sponsorship package, we would be very interested in discussing long term links to everybody’s advantage. Due to declining public funding for the Arts, we need to raise more private sponsorship if we are to continue.
We are rooted in the community and have a policy of ensuring that we promote local artists. Visitors to our festival spend money locally thus helping in local community regeneration. There are a lot of positive benefits to being seen to be involved in, and sponsoring, the local community and we can raise your community profile in this area. I am more than willing to come to your premises in order to discuss this further with you. I look forward to hearing from you. For further discussions please contact David Roche (Chairman) on 01709 879211 or 07792421800.
